I have used the machine 4 times and the heart rate monitor worked for three of these 45 minute work outs & now has begun to stop working. (More customer reviews)The product is fine IF they send you all the parts you need. I received my shipment on May 4th. I immediately started opening it and putting it together. I got to STEP 4 in the directions and realized I didn't have the part to do that step, then I took inventory and realized that I didn't have many crucial parts. That very day I called their customer service number and got a message. You will never get to speak to a person when you call, trust me I tried many times. Nobody called me back, so I emailed them and no response for 4 days. I emailed again. To make a long story short. This company played games for 2 straight weeks. They claimed they never received my email, only to later respond to me through that "lost" email. I threatened them with calling my credit card coming and filing a claim. They emailed me again, only to delay that action, because it's nearly impossible to dispute a credit charge 30 days after purchase. Meanwhile, I had boxes and parts sitting in the middle of my room the whole time. Finally, I put in a claim with amazon. Amazon wanted to ship me a new one or refund my money, but for both options...they wanted me to ship this stuff back to them...ON MY DIME! I told them to "talk to this company and straighten it out. How many other customers would amazon let this happen to?" The very next day is when I got contacted by this company and given actual information about where my parts were and that they would be coming. I would never, ever buy from this company again. It's a shame because for the money the gym isn't bad, but if you don't get your parts....don't say I didn't warn you.

however, the table looks great and the weight is about right. nice and heavy.

(More customer reviews)I chose free supersaving from amazon and the bike still arrived in three days - during Christmas week no less.The bike is extremely sturdy and accommodates both short and tall users.The parts are mostly assembled upon arrival so the assembly is quick and painless.You basically have to put together 4 major parts.No mess or confusion.Great workout!The resistance knob is easiy accessible and not tempermental at all.However, like all spin bikes, recommend a gel seat cover for a more comfortable ride.

Bike also comes with a nice touch....it not only has a water bottle holder, but it also comes with a water bottle.High recommend...especially for the price.

(More customer reviews)I've been keeping my eyes on this product for the last few years thinking it would be the perfect solution for me in my cramped workout area in my home.Finally this Christmas I bought them.Here's what I found:

Pluses:
- Eliminates the need to have many dumbbells.
- The stand was free on a promotion.
- The handle is fairly comfortable.
- Nice variety of weights to choose from.

Minuses:
- Bulky for a dumbbell.
- The weights shift as you are lifting them, making balance an issue.
- Have to adjust not one, but two dials to dial in the correct weight for each dumbbell and you dial them in opposite directions.
- The weights feel like they are about to come off.They didn't for me, but they just didn't feel solid.

Conclusion:
Bottom line on this one is try them before you buy them.They may be great for you, but for me they are awkward and that's why I returned them.I tried out a pair of PowerBlocks the other day and am going to go that route.They are more solid, easier to change weights, and smaller.Plus, the 5-45lb set is way cheaper than the SelectTech's at around $267 with free shipping.

This is my second large order from Bayou fitness in the past 3 years and so far no problem with them. I will come back to Bayou fitness because they seem to always have the best price, free shipping & no taxes. Also good quality equipment. Just wish they carried more/different companies.

BodySolid - leg press/hack squat machine. Took less than 6 hours for me and wifey to uncrate, organize, assemble & cleanup. The package was short some nuts and screws. We ended going to Home Depot rather make this a big issue w/BodySolid. This is our second large piece of equipment and BodySolid ultimately backups their 100% warranty for broken equipment is why I purchased the latest unit from them. The unit works very well so far. I'm pressing eight 45's and like the smoothness and stability. I'm 6'5 and my wife is 5'7" and so the unit is height friendly. The pull pin is in a weird spot but we work with it making adjustments to it under the foot pad. The footprint is much smaller than what you will find in most gyms yet it doesn't want for quality. Overall my wife and I are pleased with the overall performance. The hack squat and calf press works as advertised. Hack squats are smooth and effortless. We hesitate to give the unit 5STARS because (1) we haven't had the unit very long, (2) it lacked minor but necessary pieces and (3) the cushions could have been better quality.

(More customer reviews)Definitely worth the money.Shipped from Bayou Fitness via Fedex National (freight) and came about a week after ordering.Fedex called me to schedule the pickup, since you have to be home to sign for it.The weights are packed well in plastic bags inside cardboard boxes and delivered in a small palletized shipping crate.The Fedex guy used a pallet jack and brought the crate into my garage, which is in the back of my house and told me to drink a lot of muscle milk protein when I work out ;-)He says he benches 400 lbs, so I think I may try that out.The weights themselves are coated in some kind of grease, probably to keep the rubber fresh and keep them from sticking to the packaging material, which needs to be cleaned off with soap and water.The rubber coating feels good and is not giving off noxious sulfur fumes.The biggest thing for me is that they look really cool and go well with my Powertec leverage system gym.I will definitely buy more of these in the future, although, probably of the 45lb variety, now that I have a mixed set.For the money, these are one of the highest quality, best looking plates you will find.I like how even the small plates are shaped like the big ones.They are also very quiet as you would expect from rubber coated plates.My previous set is painted iron and have become very rusty.I will never again buy non-coated gym equipment.You pay double the price for coated equipment, but it makes you feel like you are at a good gym and it makes you want to work out more.I don't like getting rust on my hands when I'm working out.

(More customer reviews)Overall, I love the appearance of the bike - kind of funky.It is sturdy and comfortable, except for the handlebars.Absolutely terrible handlebar design!There is no way to comfortably rest your thumb or hands on the pulse sensor without ending up with your wrists aching.I tried flipping the handlebars both ways, and it doesn't improve either way.The sensors should have been placed on the ends of the handlebars.The electronics work -- but if you must wear bifocals, it will be next to impossible to read it.I eventually learned the positions of the screen layout and what works for me, so it's no longer important for me to be able to read the tiny, tiny print.There's not many bells and whistles, but I only paid $199 on clearance.I'm not sure I would be happy if I had paid full price.But gee!It looks good in my modern, Zen living room.

Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym (Refurbished) Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased the refurbished model of the Xtreme 2 SE.Other than that some items remained assembled (which helped in assembly) it appeared unused and new.It shipped within 3 working days and arrived in 12 days from time of order.It arrived on a pallet and the boxes were damaged, but was packed well enough internally that the forklift damage didn't affect the components and all parts and pieces remained inside the opened boxes.

It was very easy to assemble.I opened all the packages, took inventory to ensure I had all the parts, including bolts and screws and gathered tools.The only item not included was an allen wrench that was to be used on the majority of the "button head" bolts.Fortunately, I had one in the tool box.Assembly instructions were in clear, concise American English, with adequate assembly diagrams.From delivery, hauling the items upstates, unboxing, removing packing materials to curbside, inventory, tool search and assembly to first test run was 3 unrushed hours.

I have used it for several days and find that it will serve its desired purpose to help me maintain muscle tone and general health.I have used free weights extensively in the past and the resistance system is different, but I can see that for working out solo and for general fitness it will be ideal and you are going to have to work to injure yourself, unlike free weights.

The "No Change Pulley System" is a joy to use.No having to switch cables to work out.You do need to plan your workouts to keep from switching attachments, but with the right planning, it is very easy to get a workout with minimal adjustment/change time between exercises.It is quicker than a free weight system, unless you have free run of a gym with each station set up for each particular exercise, set with your particular weights.The resistance bars are easy to change and quick to adjust.

Small footprint, but you will also need a spot to store attachments.I purchased an upgrade to 310 lbs and inserted them when assembling.I recommend that you do that also as you would have to do some disassembly if you install them after the intial assembly and if you search the web, you can find discount coupons to save 10-20% of the $99 asking price.I also purchased the Easy Curl bar at the same time (not required, but I am glad I got it).The system does come with a strap to retain the resistance bars when not in use.

I am very pleased with the purchase and as only time will tell how it will hold up, it appears to be a solid, well built machine that has all of the items that I will need to maintain general fitness and allow the wife to do the same.

(More customer reviews)My wife works out regularly with weights and this set has the 5 to 15lb dumbbells she uses as well as the 20 and 25 I use occasionally and they all fit on a tidy compact rack. The rack fabrication and assembly could be better; we found it impossible to put it together so it would sit flat on the floor and some of the mounting plates were bent, although these straightenend out once bolted.We have the rack on a rug, so the unevenness doesn't matter and it looks straight.The dumbbells themselves are cheaply made, but that doesn't affect much.The grips are textured on the 15, 20 and 25lb weights only.Overall we are very happy with this purchase.

Polar F7 Men's Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Grey) Review

(More customer reviews)This heart rate monitor works great.I have no problems getting a reading from the watch or from the gym equipment that support Polar "broadcasts".Having said that, the rest of the review will be about "Buyer Beware" points.Buyer Beware Point1.) From what I can tell, the F7 offers the same features as the F6.In fact the F7 came with the F6 owners manual.I say this because at the time of this review, you can purchase the F6 on amazon for around $96 vs the $119 for the F7.The F7 does though come with a material elastic chest band for the monitor where as the F6 comes with a plastic chest band.The elastic is supposed to be more comfortable and this is why I justified paying the extra $25 for the F7.Buyer Beware Point 2.) You have to wet the connectors of the chest band to get it to read your heart beats.Now many of you may already know this.Being a first time buyer, I didn't.So I can imagine how gunky this thing is going to get over time.They recommend rinsing and wipe it down after every use and after 3 to 5 weeks of use to wash it in the washer machine in a washer bag and limited detergent (NO BLEACH!).The probes on the strap are a material mesh and look like if I were to repeatedly wipe it down as suggested, will fray.Buyer Beware Point 3.) The battery in the watch is stated as lasting approximately a year.It will be shorter if you use that backlight.In order to have the battery replaced, Polar advises that you have to send it to an authorized Polar service center or it will no longer be under warrantee (which I believe is 1 year so if the battery lasts that long, you are in good shape) and it will no longer be water resistant.I live in the NY City area and there are no Polar service centers near me.In fact, the Polar web site only lists 4 of them in the USA.So when the battery dies, I will be left without my heart rate monitor for days if not weeks while it travels to and from the Polar service center.Given, all of this, I still recommend the product as it works great.I just have to adjust my expectations that this may not last for years and years which is what I was hoping for.
